WASHINGTON – Brien Davis is no stranger to winning when it comes to competitive golf tournaments in central Illinois.
Davis, a former PGA Tour pro, showed his dominance once again by winning the 2023 Pine Lakes Open at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Washington on Sunday afternoon. The former UNLV standout has also won the Peoria Men’s City Championship three of the last four years.
Davis carded an impressive 7-under 63 in Saturday’s opening round and capped off his title crown with a 1-over 71 in the final round, withstanding a push from Bloomington-Normal native Craig Onsrud.
Onsrud, an assistant coach for the Illinois Wesleyan women’s golf team and head golf professional at Normal’s Ironwood Golf Course, made his run in the final round. Onsrud after an opening round 70, fired a 5-under 65 to come up just short to Davis 134-135 on Sunday.
John Ehrgott, a former player at Michigan State, 67-69-136 and Pekin native Brian Draher 70-66-136 tied for third place. Tim Sheppard finished in fourth with 73-67-140, while Scott Phegley (75-66-141), Ethan Brue (69-72-141) and Ryan Ballard (70-71-141) tied for fifth.

Tim Walters shot 75 and 72 with a 147 two-day total to earn his crown in the B-Flight division, while Bryan Brucker (69-82-151) finished in second place. Tim Krause (74-78-152) and Jarod Oderwald (77-75-152) tied for third.
